Process of Health Policy Making: Policy Formation

Identify an organization in your local community or state that could weigh in on the health policy debate concerning the epidemic of childhood obesity.

Analyze what role this organization could or should play in shaping local or state health policy around the issue of childhood obesity.

In your assessment, reference at least one element or concept from course textbook Chapter 8, regarding the application of strategic thinking (Public Health and the Policy Process: Micro and Macro Dimensions) to this organization’s decision to become involved in this policy-making arena.

Your assignment should be a minimum of two pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. Include four quality references where two of them are from peer-reviewed articles. Use your own words, and include citations and references as needed to avoid plagiarism. All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations and be cited per APA style.
