You need to state at least two criteria on which you will compare the two sustainability reports.
Here are some examples of possible criteria. You can choose from this list or include your own. Use the materials discussed in the unit or your own research to provide support for the criteria chosen.
• Completeness- does each report give you a complete overview of the organisation’s operations and impacts;
• Credibility- the quality and truth worthiness of the report. Credibility can be viewed from an internal and external perspective;
• Communication- how easy is it for the target audience of the report to understand and navigate.
This section needs to be brief and succinct and take up approximately 5% of your report.
TASK 3: CRTICALLY COMPARE YOUR TWO CHOSEN SUSTAINABILITY REPORTS
This is the main body of your report where you compare the two sustainability reports chosen.
• Identify each companies’ respective strengths and weaknesses in comparison with each other and with your chosen criteria;
• Reference material demonstrating learning from the unit as well as additional external information to support your critique;
• Reach a conclusion about which report is ‘better’ and give convincing reasons why with supporting evidence.
This section will take up approximately 50% of your report.
TASK 4: RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSION
Prepare a series of recommendations for one company directed at improving their sustainability reporting in the future.
• Include at least three clear, focused recommendations for one company and give reasons;
• Discuss how these recommendations, if implemented are likely to improve sustainability reporting in the future;
• Write a succinct conclusion that relates directly back to your thesis statement with two – three sentences that summarise the main points of your report and a closing sentence. No new information is to be included in the conclusion.
This section will take up approximately 25% of your report.
