15 May Research Project
The topic is Social Judgement Theory
Sources must be journal articles from 2014-2019
Before you write the introduction, you should have 15 scholarly sources that address your approved theory. Although the introduction to a paper is brief, it demonstrates the significance of the research through the definition of relevant terms and the contextualization of the research for the audience. By this point in the project, you should have conducted all of your research so that your thesis sentence demonstrates your thorough knowledge of the communication theory. The length of your introduction depends on the complexity of your topic; however, be sure to develop a clear focus in your introduction that culminates in your thesis statement. You should include the following components in your introduction:
· The purpose of your research
· Expectations from an investigation
· A research question
· A thesis statement (last sentence of the paragraph)
A review of the 15 relevant sources that you found during the research process and used to create your introduction and thesis statement. This literature review should compare/contrast, analyze, and apply the scholarly perspectives that are represented by the sources you have read. Be sure to identify the practical applications and implications of the theory within the discipline of communication. Structure this literature review in paragraph format with topic sentences relating to your thesis sentence. The literature review should convey to the reader what knowledge and ideas have been established regarding your chosen theory. Furthermore, you should address the strengths and weaknesses of your theory. Here are some questions to consider addressing:
1. What do scholars already know about this theory?
2. Are there any gaps in the knowledge of the theory?
3. Is there a scholarly consensus regarding the theory?
4. Are there any areas of significant debate?
5. What methods or problems were identified by scholars and how do they affect the research?
Since the literature review will become the body of your final research paper, you should aim to have between 15–20 pages of text.
Your paper should include each of the following elements in the following order:
- Title Page
- Abstract
- Introduction
- Literature Review
- Conclusion
- Works Cited
- Appendix (only if necessary)
The text of the paper should be 15–20 pages (not including the title page, abstract, works cited, or appendix). Furthermore, the paper should demonstrate a logical progression of thought and argument from the introduction and the conclusion. Each of the parts should be thoroughly integrated and your conclusion should derive logically from the body of the paper. All of your sources should be used within the paper and should be properly cited in APA style.
