Resumes are designed to tell the education and work history of an individual. In most cases, two individuals will have a wildly varying history of education, training, and work history. It is because of these difference that most resumes will not look alike. The benefits of this for most organizations is that individuals must write their own resume, and it can provide a good demonstration of the users writing skills. One of the major drawbacks this creates is the need to read every resume to look for key items. Modern resumes submitted in an electronic format can help with this as it allows the organization to use search functions to pick out key words. This is also why it is important to read the job posting and write a new draft of your resume for each job you apply for. By editing the document and using the same key words used in the job posting, you maximize the possibilities that your resume will be selected for a second look.

Assess why no two resumes (typically) look alike. Then, discuss the pros and cons for organizations to deal with the disparity.
No two resumes look alike because each person expresses his/her job descriptions in a way that is unique. The pros would include each person having the chance to make his/her resume stand out even when describing similar duties. This also permits each person an opportunity to shine as his/her objective is clearly stated. The cons include the unfortunate fact that although one person may have more experience yet if he/she is unable to clearly and concisely articulate that experience the job opportunity may be lost to someone who has written a better resume.

- Assess why no two resumes (typically) look alike. Then, discuss the pros and cons for organizations to deal with the disparity.
No two resumes will typically look alike. Everyone will have a different educational path and job history. The exception to the rule might be in a family that never leaves a small town. You might have 3 generations that all attend the same high school, college, and go work for the same local factory.
- From the e-Activity, discuss three things you like about your resume and three things to improve upon.
I needed make a lot of updates to my resume before uploading it. I haven’t touched it since 2016.
I like the general layout of my resume, but I wish I had a tool that could make it completely symmetrical. I originally made this in MS Word 2007.
I know a lot of HR teams are supper picky about how a resume looks. A lot of times, if it’s not even, or looks bad to them, they wont even read it and send the PDF right to recycle bin.
