Select one of the four case studies that were presented in this week’s reading and tutorial. Briefly describe the problem and how GIS resolved the issue. Discuss how the problem could have been resolved without GIS? Discuss another environmental problem that could be solved using an application such as the one you described in your case study?

- This research article demonstrates how GIS is used to manage forests and includes calculations such as patch size, number of patches and harvested area.
