They should not contradict anything you read in the Unit 1 instructions and grading rubric guidelines contained in the Unit 1 “Rubric” icon link (let me know if you don’t find this important information). Please note that it is OK to use a personal company idea or individual startup business (one not in existence or in the beginning stages) idea for Unit 1 and 2. This does not mean you can use an existing corporation or company. It must be related to your personal ambition as a potential entrepreneur.

There is also an outline WORD doc (as below) in Doc Sharing which I recommend you consider using as a template to guide the development of your Unit 1 assignment paper. Sometimes students neglect to address each part of the assignment and this outline (please remove notes and comments not relevant to the final paper) should help alleviate that potential pitfall. This outline offers a bit more specificity and covers the areas that will be used to actually award points.

The PEST and SWOT templates you include in the Appendices (optionally these can be inserted into the narrative section) should support the comments you make in the narrative section of the Environmental Scan section of the paper. (If you are unsure about inserting objects into a WORD doc please be in touch with one of the coaches in the Writing Center.) Use the template designs available in the course.
