words Abstract
This paper delves into the known specifics of the neurobehavioral development disorder Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There are three types of ADHD: inattentive, impulsivity, and
combination (Roth, 2013). Those individuals that are not able to focus are said to be predominantly
inattentive. Many of the same symptoms of the inattentive type can be seen in the impulsive form of
ADHD. The difference is that there are symptoms of impulsivity and hyperactivity in the impulsive form
of the disorder. People who do not show more of one or the other types is known as the combination
type. Like many other disorders, ADHD can coexist with other mental health disorders, such as
Oppositional Defiance Disorder, mood disorders, anxiety, learning disorders, and tics or Tourette
Syndrome. The challenges that people face with this disorder lasts a lifetime. The symptoms can be
treated with medication and therapy, however there is currently no cure.
