In this lab, you will perform some activities from the textbook.

Your deliverable this week will be a lab report with specific screenshots from the activities you will complete in the lab environment.

Steps: All
Accessing Your Labs
After logging into Skillsoft using the above link, follow these steps to access your labs. You can also access the Practice-Labs Guidefound in Doc Sharing for additional details on the lab environment.
- Once you have been redirected into Skillsoft, select Catalog from the menu on the left-hand side.
- Under Catalog, you will see your course: CIS206 Architecture and Operating Systems.
- Click the title of the course (CIS206 Architecture and Operating Systems) to display the details.
- Click the folder icon . This will create a shortcut to your labs in the My Plan area within Skillsoft for quick, easy access.
- Click Launch or button to open a listing of labs for this course.
- You will be directed to the Practice Labs area and your labs will be found under the appropriate week.
- Once the lab modules have loaded, you will see your labs listed under Courses. In order to begin your lab, click on the title of the lab (i.e., Week 1: Installing Windows 7, Installing Fedora 14, and Hardware Components).
- When the lab starts, you will see additional content load under the Virtual Lab area. Instructions for your lab can be found under the Exercises tab.
- Click the numbers on the bottom of the screen to navigate the instructions. When you are ready to begin, access the vLab Pcs necessary for your lab.
Note: If all lab resources are currently being used when you try to start your lab, you will be given an opportunity to schedule the lab at a later time.

- Take a screenshot of the System Informationdialog box and look through the system information. (6 points)
- What is the processor? (1 point)
- What is the OS name? (1 point)
- What is the version? (1 point)
- What is the boot device? (1 point)
- Take a screenshot of the Performance Monitor showing the chart with information about memory, physical disk, and processor performance. (10 points)
Linux+ Support Skills: Devices Linux File Systems File System Hierarchy Standard
- Take a screenshot after the df – h command. (8 points)
- What does the df-h command show you? (1 point)
- Name one of the file systems listed. (1 point)
- Take a screenshot at the very end after the ls – l file.txt command. (10 points)
Linux+ Support Skills: Administrative Tasks
- Take a screenshot after the cat /etc/passwd command. (8 points)
- What does the /etc/shadow file contain? (1 point)
- What does the /etc/group file contain? (1 point)
