INSTRUCTIONS:
Park Ranger Public Relations has been hired by Homer Simpson to promote a new sport known as Snow Triad. Simpson is founder and president of a nonprofit organization, More Olympic Sports Foundation (MOSF). Your job is to develop public relations materials to support his new sport. (Additional details can be found in the SS18 Scenario Brief on D2L.)
In Writing Project 1, we developed a blog post to raise awareness of Snow Triad. In Writing Project 2, we drafted a letter to Sue Sylvester, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), informing her of the success of Snow Triad in Park City, Utah. In Writing Project 3 and 5, we developed a news release to introduce Snow Triad to the news media and announce the 15th competition at Utah Olympic Park. In Writing Project 6 you will develop a news release to announce Snow Triad has been adopted as an official Olympic sport with spokesperson, Ashley Caldwell, U.S. Olympic aerial skier and World Championship gold medalist.
Your task for Writing Project 7 is to draft the pitch letter that would encourage a REAL reporter to do a story about Snow Triad. Successful letters will provide a captivating hook and describe a potential story angle. In crafting your pitch, be sure to pick a REAL reporter who works for a REAL media outlet to address your email. This is an exclusive. Be sure to include that in your letter.
Technical Requirements and Disclaimers:
· Use Activity 13 to identify a REAL reporter who works for a REAL media outlet in the UNITED STATES.
· This reporter must work for a REAL media outlet in the United States.
· Compose a pitch email following the four-part organizational strategy described in class. Be brief!
· Address your letter to the reporter you chose. DO NOT CONTACT THE REPORTER.
· Follow the general format requirements for a pitch email.
· The letter must be ghostwritten for Leslie Knope, and must properly address the reporter
· DO NOT put your name on the letter!
