Students are required to research a public sector organisation in their area of interest (e.g. healthcare) and base their answers around this organisation. If detailed financial information is not available to students, they should base their answers around systems, controls and techniques which should be in place to ensure financial control and accountability. Task 1 Explain the public sector within a chosen nation, how organisations are funded and operated (including the limitations on funding) and the information they are required to report. The analysis should provide a context for the organisation used for the basis of the remaining tasks. (1000 words) (LO to be covered 1.1, 1.3) Task 2 For chosen public sector organisation a) Analyse the financial information available and how it meets accountability requirements b) Explain – using examples – how financial monitoring and control is or could be achieved c) Analyse the financial decision making process using examples to explain the process.
