The “questions” or the tasks that you are required to perform for the SLPs sound at times elementary and trivial. This is not the case though. As a mature student you must try to go the extra yard and provide responses that will incorporate your readings and learning in each module.
This SLP has two separate parts.
Part I: Banking Regulations
Read the information in the background material, look for more information, and then, write a two page paper discussing the bank that you use for checking or savings. Some issues you can choose to discuss include:
Why you chose this bank.
What special features this bank offers.
What regulations this bank faces.
Any recent changes this bank has gone through.
Part II: Structure of the Baking System
Take a good look at the bank you use, not from the point of view of a customer but from the point of view of a potential investor.
Do you think your bank would be worth owning shares in?
Consider the present price per share and also reflect on the potential performance of the bank and of its shares.
You are required to perform some research on your bank using the Internet search, and then write a two-page paper making a recommendation on whether or not you think one should buy shares in your bank.
[Note: If your bank is not listed on a stock exchange, do consider another bank that you hear about and perform the research on that bank instead.]
Also it is important to understand the difference between commercial and business banking. Please review the assigned readings, look for more information, and then answer the following question:
To what extent commercial banking is different from the investment banking? Please explain your reasoning.
