How to find an article:
1. In Person: Go to the Harold Washington Library downtown (400 S. State St.) and photocopy an article OR find another local library (e.g. University of Illinois, Chicago – restricted hours, call ahead for access to ccc students). This is not the same as HW college library (Lake St.).
2. Online: Use the college search engine athttp://colib.ccc.edu. At this point you can login or chooseyour college located on the left hand side of the screen. First, you will have to login with your student ID and password to access the site (follow the directions to do this). YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE AN ACTIVE LIBRARY CARD TO COMPLETE THIS STEP. Next, use a search engine such as FirstSearch, EBSCO, ProQuest, Academic Search, ERIC to find an appropriate article. If you are not familiar with searching for articles this way, it may take some time to become comfortable with the system. This is a good learning opportunity for you and an important aspect of college level work. The best way to learn is toask your librarian for help.
A couple of notes:
Kennedy King and Olive Harvey, due to license agreements, most of these electronic databases may only be used inside of the college. Harold Washington, Daley and Truman have separate databases you can search outside the college. Wright College haselectronic copies of American Anthropologist, Current Anthropology, National Geographic, and Smithsonian in their database.
