One way to predict the future of organization development (OD) and how it is used inside and outside the world of academia is to look at the most current research on an area of study within the field of OD. In this Assignment, you will be asked to write a two-page Introduction to a section of an edited book, similar to the Organization Development reader you are using for this course. The section is titled Predicting the Future Role of Organization Development in Educational Contexts. The five dissertations you identify will be the chapters included in this section of the book.

To prepare for the Assignment, review the course resources and study a minimum of five dissertation abstracts of empirical dissertations that address OD. Dissertations reviewed should have been written in the past five years. Complete a bibliography for each of the abstracts. You can use the “Editors Interludes” preceding the eight different parts of Gallos book as a format for your Assignment. These interludes summarize the chapters in each part of the book and put them in context for the reader.
In your Introduction to the book section, share your insights about the direction of OD in educational settings, based upon the abstracts you read, as if to orient your reader to the five dissertations and their contribution to an aspect of the OD field. Include common threads in the research, as well as differences you found in the studies. Close with an analysis of the possible contribution to positive social change made by these dissertations and a suggestion for future research in this aspect of OD. Be certain to cite the abstracts and describe the studies. (Gallos interludes do not include APA-style citations, but they are expected for this Assignment.)
