Sport companies target all kinds of consumers in today’s market. If it brings in money, the
company will find ways to bring it more money there are many examples but I’m only going to
talk about one which is Nike. They are the company with the biggest hand in the sports world
today.
NIKE, Inc. (NKE) is the world’s leading sports footwear and Apparel Company. NIKE’s
high-performance athletic gear is mostly targeted at professional athletes. NIKE’s
innovations, products, and services seek to develop athletic potential, according to the

With Nike market there stuff is by picking people like Michael Jordan or teams like University of
Oregon that is going to be seen in the public eye. Michael Jordan was the face of Nike for the
longest time because of what he was doing in the Game of basketball (Welcome to Market
Realist). Nike used Michael Jordan with not only there shoes but in all there athletic gear. Nike
was known for basketball for the longest time because of how they used Michael Jordan. Even
when there brand did not agree with what the national basketball association wanted.
NBA Commissioner David Stern banned them for not having any white on them. Jordan
wore them anyway and was fined $5,000 each game. Nike would pay the fine and even

With University of Oregon Under an agreement signed that extends through 2018, Nike provides

created a factor of improving a school and make Nike bigger in that area of sport.
In my view when Nike markets they go after the people that watch sports and are trying to make
it in that area of sport. I guess the concept is to get people to think when they go to the store to
buy athletic gear that “If Michael Jordan wore it when he won his ring I want that.” That is what
I thought when I was growing up. The aim of marketing is to get people to buy or gain
information on the what, when, and how. With Demographics Nike goes after the dreams that
believe in what that person is doing. With geographic location it’s all about what is being played in that location. I can tell you right now Nike right now owns football and basketball but they
have a long way to go when it comes to soccer in my opinion. That has a lot to do with how the
