Another important factor in psychological adjustment relates to a persons stage of life. Why do adolescents behave as they do? What do young adults need to adjust to as they move from childhood to adulthood? Is there really such a thing as midlife crisis and, if so, why do people react and behave as they do? Finally, as people grow older and face retirement and other life changes that come with advancing age, what adjustments are necessary and how can people make these adjustments so as to promote optimal mental and physical health?
This assignment asks you to explore four developmental stages: adolescence, young adulthood, middle adulthood, and later adulthood. Then, it asks you to explore the cultural influences that might impact adjustment from one stage to another and to lifes challenges faced within that stage.
