Thinking back on the readings in the textbook, online, and in your outside reading book, and focusing on two or three ideas from those readings that have enlightened you about life, or how to live, write an essay in which you give advice about how to live.
In giving advice, try to be as specific as possible about actions that should be taken, based on those ideas. Also, in your essay, try to justify each point of advice you give. Keep in mind that your audience would be younger people, or a younger person such as a cousin, niece, nephew, brother, sister, etc., though you should make your essay general, not directed to a specific person.
Be sure to clearly cite the sources of the ideas you bring to bear, using proper citations, according to my handout and instructions this semester on citing. Remember, no page numbers, and no parenthetical citations. Cite the reading in the flow of your sentences. Please avoid lengthy quotations. For example, you might quote a sentence or a phrase, or a line or two of poetry. But if you want to quote more than that, dont. Paraphrase, using your own words, instead, using quotation marks for a key phrase or two.
• Length: 800 words minimum.
