Assignment Instructions
You are continuing your work for the pet toy company
needs. Note that last week, the company announced
that they are including some manufactured items in
their product list, rather than relying entirely on
handmade toys.] Bingo Pet Toys specializes in handcrafted
cat, dog, bird, and pet rodent toys. It started
out with just three employees and was located in the
basement of the CEO, Patience Doolittle. Online
orders have grown substantially, and while
contemplating hiring many more people to handle both
the creation of the toys and the orders, Ms. Doolittle
realizes that this is her opportunity to “set up shop” in
a building specifically designed for the company. She
has been using Excel spreadsheets to store data
about the toys, customers, orders, and logistics, but
knows this will not be adequate. You have been hired
as the systems analyst. Your job is to analyze the
company’s current data, anticipate current and future
needs, and develop a project plan to be implemented
by a team. Ms. Doolittle cannot yet afford an
experienced IT team, so interns will be working with
you. Make assumptions regarding information,
processes, or events if it is not directly provided.
This week’s work:The concepts you presented for
Ms. Doolittle’s company last week were met with
approval. Now you need to create several more
diagrams: (1) the ERD for Bingo Pet Toys’ new
database, (2) a use case diagram to explain a
particular situation, and (3) a small flowchart to explain
a specific process. For this Assignment, you will need
to use Microsoft Visio and Word.

A. Database development
Part 1: Entity tables
Choose just four of the product entities you created for
the Data Dictionary last week: one each for cats, dogs,
rodents, and birds. Develop one table for each of
these four entities that includes attributes, keys, data
types, length, and whether or not each attribute is
required. Each item must have at least five attributes.
An example that provides the required format is
in the Reading PDF.
Data types must be chosen from those in
Chapter 8 of the textbook, Figure 8.7.
Use Word tables to present this information.
Part 2: ER Diagram
Draw an ERD to show all main components of Bingo
Pet Toys’ new database. Include products,
manufacturers, orders, customers, and
employees, and show relationships using proper
symbology and crow’s feet as explained in the
reading.
Main concepts are explained in Chapter 13 of
the textbook, Figures 13.2 and 13.3.
An example showing the required level of detail
and labeling is show in Chapter 13 of the
textbook, Figure 13.4. Other formats (such as
Chen) are not acceptable.
Visio must be used to draw the ERD.
