While looking at the HER system, some of the disadvantages are; expenses related to adopting this system, privacy concerns related to hacking and who can access these records, the complexity of learning to use such a complex system can be daunting to some stakeholders, and compliance issues which the facility will need to ensure that laws and regulations are being followed (Schorsch, 2014). With paper records, there are also disadvantages, such as; space as storing these records will need to be considered, lost paperwork cannot be replaced especially if it is older records, sharing information and test results can be delayed due to physical location, and there may be wasteful spending if duplicate tests are ordered because records could not be obtained in a timely fashion (Dean, 2013).
