Interdisciplinary background provided in this course will help you structure your degree more effectively as you complete this plan of study and statement of purpose. You will utilize this assignment to develop course sequencing and present how an interdisciplinary degree may prepare you to meet your personal and professionally goals.
Begin by completing the 11 question Interdisciplinary Plan of Study Survey found in Module/Week 1. You will then complete a 2-page statement of purpose, or intellectual journey, detailing what brought you to the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies program and what you hope to accomplish upon graduation. The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to assess your journey to becoming an interdisciplinarian. Your writing should be clear and concise. There are two core courses in the Interdisciplinary Studies, INDS 500 and INDS 600. You are currently enrolled in INDS 500 which must be completed within your first 9 hours of acceptance into the program. INDS 600 (Interdisciplinary Research) must be taking within the last 9 hours of the program. Students cannot register for this class on their own and must call their Academic Advisor to be enrolled. An Advisor Permissions Hold is assigned to this class to ensure it is taken at the end of the program.
