The increasing organizational interconnectedness leads to the need for new means for the organizations to work together to deliver business values. There is a need to improve on collaboration within the organizations since globalization, outsourcing, mobile networking, organizational teams, increased innovativeness, reaching new customers and suppliers call for more improved partnerships in the firms. Multiple software’s are invented with a sole purpose if improving collaborations such as the virtual worlds, social networking, content management, and several means of communications since collaborations play a significant role in the organizational success (McKeen & Smith, 2015). Some of the merits of collaborations to firms include access to a much broader market, range of skills, resources, and capabilities that would have been inevitable. Increased efficiency of operations due to the flow of technology and information which improves o cost-saving strategies for the firms.
There are various steps that organizations can follow to exercise effective collaboration. The first step involves the development of a coherent vision. Multidisciplinary approach and common IT goals are prerequisites of productive partnerships. The development of the collective vision starts with the firms’ recognition of its, values, legal requirements, core capabilities, available resources, and critical intellectual property (Weintraub, 2013). Organizations should develop a strategic perspective on what they desire to achieve form the collaborations and the technologies that will effectively aid in the achievement of desired levels of collaborations. The vision for collaboration should encompass a common strategy, organizational models, tools, and experimentations that will further aid the organizations in the gaining of significant insight for developing active and resourceful collaborations. The IT leaders are responsible for setting the goals of collaboration and connecting such purposes to the right people in the organizations.
The second step is the creation of effective collaboration is planning for adaptation. One of the significant aspects of collaborations is that they are complex and continues to evolve and therefore calls for adequate and consistent management attention (Mugridge, 2016). It is, therefore, vital for the IT managers to develop flexibilities that will enable organizations and there stakeholders to effectively cope with the changes in technology and development procedures associated with collaboration. Organizational management should train and equip the employees with new skills to deal with demands of collaborations by developing processes for learning on what works and what doesn’t work with collaboration and have adequate mechanisms for communicating these lessons to the firm’s stakeholders.
Establishment of principals of behaviors is a significant step in the process of creating effective collaboration. In the governance of partnerships/collaborations, principals of practice play a vital role as compared to the rules. It is, therefore, critical for organizations to embraces the principals of transparency and integrity both in the behavior and communication aspects. As the social networking is taking hold of our culture with firms seeking on various means of maximizing on the benefits of electronic commerce, the organizsations must develop policies and rules of etiquette to govern employee’s behaviors while transacting on online platforms (Group, 2016). Elimination of online anonymity is significant in the avoidance of bad online behaviors such as bad comments on firms by employees. It is also essential for organizations to create a work-life balance by determining the most effective means for working in different time zones.

The employees must involve in constant and constructive communication regarding the work process and operations so that objectives and goals of the organization are clear to them and they know how to work for achieving that target. Better communication would help to a positive workplace environment and promote cooperation.
· Install the best technology within the organization for collaboration: The authoritative body of the organization must ensure that the teams or workers are provided with right and efficient technology within the organization that would make project management and collaboration easier. These technologies would further assist them in increasing their accessibility, speed and comfort while collaborating with each other (Rees et al., 2015).
