Analyze a primary text from the New Testament (Christian sacred text). Remember to discuss the text from a religious studies point of view rather than a theological point of view or belief stance. You are observing the text and considering its meaning in its own ancient context.

Choose one of the four primary texts below.
Read it carefully, looking for symbols.
Look up the meaning of the symbols you find in the text in Cooper.
Think about what these symbols mean in this particular context, especially in light of themes we have explored in this course.
Write a paper that argues for how the symbols in the text help to reflect a particular theme in our course (found in lecture and in course readings for Weeks 3, 4 and 5), such as:

cosmic battle
dualism
an aspect of the apocalyptic world view (e.g., unseen world seen through visions; radical change and divine judgment to come)
