Research proposal topic: An investigation into the factors which influence international students’ choice of bank in the UK
Structure:
Introduction (300 words approx.) 25 marks
Rationale. This section of your introduction should describe your topic and explain why it is important (a contemporary social/economic/political issue, academic interest, etc.). Your rationale should be clear and persuasive. You must cite appropriate sources.
Research Questions. Your questions must be clear and appropriate for your topic (i.e. must help you to research your project title). Aim to have 3-5 research questions.
Annotated bibliography (850 words approx.) 45 marks
An annotated bibliography is a list of sources in which each source is followed by a short annotation. The annotation should clearly describe and evaluate the source (e.g. highlight the strengths and weaknesses of its methods, discusses the validity of its conclusions, discusses its relevance to your topic, etc.). Each annotation should be 100-200 words in length (1-2 paragraphs). The sources selected should be relevant to your topic. When making evaluative comments you may support your points with references to appropriate sources. You must include FIVE academic sources in your annotated bibliography.
Methodology (350 words approx.) 20 marks
Outline and justification of methodological approach. You should clearly describe and justify your research design and methods (i.e. qualitative or quantitative, research purpose and research strategy, choice of sampling strategy, choice of method(s)). Research design and methods selected should be appropriate for your proposal title and research questions. You should cite appropriate sources.
Reference list (the reference list is not included in the word count) 10 marks (for reference list and use of in-text citations)
In-text citations and references must be presented in accordance with GIC referencing guidelines (see document on Moodle).
