To grasp the concept of illumination, EPHESIANS- 1:17-19 helps give us an understanding and says “I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the perception of your mind may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength”. In the same way, God helps us understand his message, the UNBELIEVERis unable to due to the lack of faith. We can use the scripture to learn as “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2TIMOTHY- 3:16-17). We have to remember though, not to use the scripture for a PURELY ACADEMIC PURPOSE. As for the last role, SANCTIFICATION, we are able to embrace what the “Holy Spirit does in the life of believers to enable them to GROW IN FAITHandBECOME MORE LIKE CHRIST” (Cartwright, John & Hulshof, Chris 2016). We are taught to embrace the scripture and actually look at the true meaning as depicted in JAMES 1: 22-25.“We Either we choose to CONFESSand REPENTof our sins” (Cartwright, John & Hulshof, Chris 2016), and ILLUMINATE THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
