For this activity, I would like you to think of someone you would describe as creative. This person can either be someone you know personally, or it can be a famous person. It should be a real person and not a character in a book. The only requirement is that the person needs to be someone who you can find information about easily. Gather as much information on this person as you can either through reading biographies, personal records, newspapers or other media accounts. I would encourage you to not only look for biographical or autobiographical accounts of famous people, but to consider other sources as well.
Once you have selected your creative individual, collected, and examined supporting materials, I would like you to present your findings.
I do not wish to stifle your own creativity in completing the assignment, so I will leave the format you choose to present your findings open. In the past people have created Prezi or Powerpoint presentations, iMovies, written poems and papers, created scrapbooks, or glogsters. So, do what interests you the most.
Regardless of the format you choose, your project needs to include the following elements:
Biographical information about the person: Include information about the person’s childhood, family, educational experiences, and early professional experiences (if applicable). Also include any significant or influential moments that may be important to consider with regard to the development of his/her creative potential. (20 points)
Evidence of creativity: Please include sample works or commentary by others to illustrate why you consider this person to be creative (20 points)
Creativity Personality Characteristics: Please review the personality characteristics in Davis’s Chapter 5 and describe (with detailed examples) which are applicable to your person. (20 points)
Ways to nurture their creativity: Pretend you are this person’s parent or teacher. Include three specificways that you would nurture his/her creativity (15 points)
