Your task is to create a patient that has either an obstructive or restrictive disorder (make sure your volumes reflect this). This link will be open from Sept 15th – Sept. 25th at 11:59 PM

• Utilize your textbook, Chapter 23 p843-845 to obtain the normal respiratory volumes and capacities.
• WebMD offers a quick explanation between an obstructive and restrictive lung disease to help you create your patient.
• Pulmonary capacity formulas (You might have to manipulate the given formulas to solve your peer’s questions)
  • IC= TV + IRV
  • FRC= RV+ERV
  • VC= IRV+TV+ ERV
  • TLC= IRV + TV + ERV+ RV

Your Post: Describe the created patient’s presenting issues and medical history.  Then give at least 2 respiratory volumes for your patient, and at least 2 respiratory capacities.  Tell us if they are normal or abnormal due to their disease (at least one must be abnormal).

You are then to create 5 questions that asks your peers to utilize the respiratory formulas to solve for the missing information that you did not add.  (i.e. have them solve for your patient’s expiratory reserve volume or vital capacity).

Peer Responses:  You are to choose two peers (begin with someone who has no other posted responses) and solve their five problems.

You will be graded on:

• The patient and questions that your create
• The correctness of your calculations to your 2 peers
• Your feedback to the students who attempted your assignment.
