Answer the question posted in the discussion description related to Case Number 5-D Looking for Richard Simmons. (PG. 99)
Based on the chapter reading and the case reading answer the following question and discuss:
Utilizing the concepts Discussed in Chapter 5 (PG 87) such as, privacy, secrecy, right to know, need to know, and want to know. Comment and then discuss whether the podcast creator Taberski invaded Simmon’s privacy, and whether there was value in the podcast.

Taberski in my opinion, invaded Simmon’s privacy. Simmons was a celebrity for more than 30 decades, obviously if he wanted a more private life that means he wants to live in a quieter life style. Taberski invaded Simmons’ life so many times, asking for interview after interview and Simmons turned it down every-time. You would think Taberski would catch a hint but he eventually realized that Richard Simmons’ was serious about not being a celebrity anymore. It shows that Taberski had no respect for anyone but himself cause he couldn’t take no as an answer until he obviously knew Richard wasn’t going to come on the show. I’m sure there was some value in the podcast since it was making $50,000 per podcast but Taberski should have been more respectful when it came to Simmon’s wishes and privacy.

Taberski did indeed invade Simmons personal privacy in my opinion. By sending fans and people who were wondering to his house, he most likely created a hysteria. No matter what Simmons was doing, it was his business. I see where Taberski was coming from trying to care for him as a friend, but that ain’t the answer. If he didn’t wanna talk at the time, then he must have had his own personal reasons. Even though Simmons is so popular and famous, he still deserves the same amount of privacy as any other human being. In my opinion, famous or not all people deserve that privacy at least to some degree. As far as the podcast goes, there is value in it. Any talk show or podcast that gets people thinking is good for forming opinions. This is one reason this form of media is so effective, and so not private. Most of the times on certain podcasts, all they do is gossip about people. In Taberski’s podcast, I do believe it was a success ultimately for the mass media, but not ethically. He could of went about it another way. Such as, he could have just visited his “friend.” But sometimes people go rogue for a reason and don’t wanna be found.
