Endocrine System (Chapters 17 and 18)
Your post: You task is to utilize the parts of a negative feedback system to create a flow chart showing how (1) one endocrine hormones elicits a change.
Background Information:
We learned about the basic parts of a feedback system in Chapter 1, and their role in maintaining homeostasis. (Reference chapter one if you need to)
· Negative feedback systems are going to counteract the stimulus. I.e. if your temperature is raised, the negative feedback system that controls this will follow the system to result in a change that lowers your body’s temperature.
· Positive feedback systems are going to amplify the stimulus until it is removed. I.e. an inflammatory response will continue to send the alarm that an invader is inside the body until the mechanisms in place have been destroyed.
o Uterine contractions during labor are another easy to see example.
