designed to give prisoners

Question 1.

Although, that probation and the parole systems have similarities, they are often confused in society. Probation is usually given to individuals that have committed misdemeanors or nonviolent crimes instead of serving time in a prison, where parole is often given to people whom have served time and they are grated their release under some agreement. Both programs require law enforcement employees to ensure that the conditions in which the individuals agree upon are being followed. If these agreements are not being This program are great tools to give more power to the community and ensuring that the fully engage with the community as well. The probation correction method is designed to give prisoners are not been met, the individuals could potentially serve time due to the commitment failure. In order for these individuals to be granted these sanctions they would need to be able to proof that they do not present any danger to the public. There is a lot of considerations that would have to be taken into the decision when selecting an individual’s punishment. If the probationer fails to meet the terms and conditions of their probation, they will be held in a local jail and await the consequence of the offense. There is a series of requirements that a probationer would have to follow in order to prevent to be incarcerated. The probation officer is actively engaging the probationer until they successfully complete their punishments. One of the main differences of probation and parole is that probation is assigned to people whom are facing less serious chargers by the court and monitored by the officer in charge. <o:p>

The court house have to maintain an open communication with the officers in charge of these individuals to ensure that they are obey the rules and regulations. Parole, is when an individual is allowed to leave the incarceration facility due to good behavior meaning that they do not present a threat to the community in any way. both of these corrections share the same amount of punishment if violated, the violators would be detained in a jail until they would receive their punishment and possibly lose their parole/ probation. <o:p>

I personally, believe that the most effective type of community supervision is the probation. The reason why I believe that is because the individuals placed in probation do not have not committed any serious crimes, where the individuals placed is parole have already received a sentence for the serious crimes that they have committed. The community has the ability to benefit from the community supervision-based programs by the free labor that these individuals are delivering in their communities. Although, that the probation program has similarities with the parole program, since the offenders have not committed any extreme crimes they will be able to integrated back with the community a lot easier than the people that have been incarcerated and seeking probation. Thank you for reading my weekly forum post, I hope you have a great night.<o:p>

Question 2.

Probation and Parole are both indeterminate sentencing styles put which helps with cutting costs associated with the incarceration of offenders. Probation and parole are both options that are used in lieu of incarcerating people who have been found guilty. Both probation and parole give the offenders the opportunity to return to a semi normal life, and often aid in helping a person make a transition from a deviant lifestyle into a life where they are able to make better life choices. Probation is used as a method to replace incarcerating an individual, they are able to continue to live a normal life style while still being supervised and having to maintain frequent check ins. Parole is similar to probation, however it is used for prisoners who are eligible for early release, typically based on good behavior. Parole will allow an individual to go back into a more normalized lifestyle outside of prison walls while still being closely supervised.

When it comes to being on probation, people are typically considered for probation if they are first time offenders and have no priors. Going the route of probation is advantageous for everyone in these situations because it saves someone from having prison time on their record while also still offering punishment for deviant actions. It is advantageous to everyone because given the individual is a first time offender they are less of a flight risk and it will save tax payers from having to pay for the cost of incarceration another person. After some research I found an article which does a good job summing up probation, it states “Probation is a type of criminal sentence that permits the offender to remain in the community setting in lieu of serving time in a jail environment. The defendant remains free so long as the terms of the probation are being met. Conditions of probation might include reporting to a probation officer on a regular schedule; refraining from the use or abuse of alcohol and/or drugs; maintaining regular employment or continuing with schooling; not changing a residence without advanced notice and permission; and not committing a criminal offense while on probation. “(Attorneys)

Again while parole and probation are similar, they differ in that when it comes to parole this is specifically for individuals who have been incarcerated. Typically a person qualifies for parole after a certain amount of time has been served, this is determined by the judge as to when they would become eligible for parole. Parole is a great transition for an offender to transition from life behind bars into one of a more normalized life, however still with strict lifestyle guidelines. This is of course another cost effective method within corrections. Our lesson this week states “Parole is an early release from an active term of incarceration. Eligibility is determined by law and typically granted by a paroling authority that reviews inmate cases. During parole, the offender reports to a community corrections officer on a regular basis and must comply with both normal conditions of supervision, as well as special conditions imposed by the paroling authority. Failure to comply can result in the offender being returned to an incarceration facility to serve the remaining portion of the active sentence.”(Book)
