The Career Path (Informative) Presentation is a 10 minute (group of two) presentation. Students will be placed in groups of TWO and base their presentation topic on the group’s choice of career for which they share a passion. Utilizing the tools and practices we’ve discussed in class, each group is required to submit a full-sentence speech outline ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPEECHES and a topic/bibliography with at least four (4) sources. You are also required to create and use 3-5 visual aids during your presentation (2 per person is good). Please see Blackboard for all official due dates. You will be allowed to use note cards during your presentation, for reference. DO NOT write your full speech on the note cards and just read it.
Rationale
The purpose of this assignment is two-fold: to learn interviewing and networking techniques to help you in your future career and to develop and deliver a group presentation to inform your classmates about your chosen career industry. You will regularly find yourself engaged in many forms of small group speaking as part of team-based projects, panel discussions, problem-solving teams, or production teams. For this reason, it is important that you can communicate, manage relationships, and present competently in small group contexts.
