APA Paper

A five page paper ( five pages of text) paper on issues/challenges facing health care

supervisors is to be completed identifying the biggest challenges faced by supervisors.

Challenges need to relate to the 12 essential skills identified in the text. The paper is to be in

edition APA format and have a minimum of 5 references

. Wikipedia may not be used

as a reference.

A writing assessment rubric will be used when assessing your paper. This is

included in the file section of canvas. Please review it carefully.

What is required in the paper is:  a title page, table of contents, abstract, 5 pages of text

with references cited throughout the document, headings to lead the reader, a conclusion at

the end of the text and a reference sheet.

The textbook may be used, cited and

referenced in the reference sheet but does not count as one of the minimum 5

references.

These references should be 2011 to present. If the textbook is used

incorporate concepts from class, canvas and the text into the paper.

The paper is to be

person, with text double spaced in 12 font and with one inch margins.

Requirements for the APA paper:
Title page:
Upper left corner:  you must write the words: Running head:  then your
title.  The word running head is only on the title page
Upper right corner:  page 1
Type your title, name and class in the middle of the page
Abstract:
Upper left: title of paper.  Upper right: page #
Center the word Abstract.
Abstract is a short, complete and concise description of the content of
the paper.
Under the abstract paragraph write:
Keywords:
then write 5-10 words
used to describe the content of the paper
Table of Contents:
Upper left: title of paper.  Upper right: page #
Words: Table of Contents should be centered
Identify ALL the components of the paper (abstract, introduction, all
the headings within the paper, conclusion and reference sheet) and the
page that each is located

Body of paper:
Each page:  Upper left: title of paper.  Upper right: page #
Start your text with an Introduction heading: what is in your paper.
Center the word Introduction
Identify all the headings throughout your paper.  Center all the
headings unless it is a subcategory.  Subcategories are typed on the left
margin.
THIS IS A TASK TO EDUCATE YOU ON HOW TO WRITE A RESEARCH
PAPER.  ALL INFORMATION IN THE PAPER MUST BE REFERENCED.
You
cannot write about your own personal experience, work, opinion, what
you heard on the news or read in the paper or what you learned in
another class. If you have an opinion about the intent of the paper, find
a professional reference that supports your opinion and cite it.  If you
learned something from the news or another class, find a professional
reference that supports what you learned and cite it.
If you identify data, a study that was done, or a location you are using
for information purposes, you must also identify the source you
retrieved it from.
Examples:
45 million Americans do not have health care insurance.
A hospital in Seattle is a leader in process improvement.
The Johnson report showed that costs were reduced by 50%…..
All of these types of statements need a reference.

If you discuss theories, established processes, etc. you must identify
where you obtained the information and cite it appropriately.
If you are going to quote a reference you must use a page number.
If your quote is over 40 words it must be an indented paragraph quote;
and it still needs a page number.
If you write information in a paragraph, then write a quote and
reference that quote, you must still reference where the rest of the
information in the paragraph came from.  The citation for the quote is
ONLY for the quote.
The body of your paper ends with a Conclusion.  The word “conclusion”
is centered and must appear in your Table of Contents.

All references that are used throughout your paper MUST appear on
the reference sheet
All references that appear on the reference sheet MUST appear in the
body of the paper.
All references must be alphabetized A-Z
References must be double spaced; all but the first line is indented
Read your syllabus to make sure you have a sufficient number of
references and that the references are the type that you need

DO NOT PICK A BUNCH OF TOPICS AND WRITE A SMALL AMOUNT ABOUT THEM.

pick a topic and really research that topic:

example:  it is hard to maintain regulatory compliance.  there are thousands of reasons why facilities cant maintain or establish compliance.  find research that supports the over riding reasons not a handful of small reasons

do not take a shotgun approach; narrow your scope and focus on one topic and make it more indepth
