1Academic Level / 08.07.2019 RHETORICAL ANALYSISI need a 4 page paper double spaced about a magazine ad. The paper is on visual analysis. You can also use anything you know on rhetoric for supporting details. Â Introduction must contain the general information on the magazine, its readership, contents (is most of the magazine full of ads? OR is the magazine chiefly articles?). The introduction must discuss the magazine’s readership and overall style. Clearly “People” magazine is quite different from “Cosmopolitan” or “Time.” As the magazine details are completed, students will transition to the specific ad they will be discussing. There should be a ‘lead-in’ sentence that takes readers from the discussion to the thesis. This criterion is linked to a Learning Outcome Thesis Statement – Must be the final sentence of the Introduction. The thesis must appear on the first page. It must not go to the second page. The thesis must be a three-point thesis that states the three strongest ” selling” features of the ad. This thesis follows the same format used in the first paper, the Rhetorical Analysis. But there should be NO mention of rhetorical appeals or devices. The focus here is on the three selling features that make the product sell to this particular audience. This criterion is linked to a Learning Outcome Body Paragraphs – PIE Development for Visual Image Analysis For full credit, a student must state the major point (feature plus its function) in the topic sentence. Following, there must be reference to the specific feature in the ad (like quoting a print text) that you will use as “illustration.” Since there is not a direct quote, students must Elaborate on the significance of the feature to the selling power of the ad. Students must use the Compositional Features handout as their basic guide to features and functions. The concluding sentence must be distinct from the elaboration. At no time should students excessively narrate. This criterion is linked to a Learning Outcome Conclusion Paragraph The Conclusion Paragraph must not be a verbatim repeat of the features, their purpose, or any other elements fully discussed in the paper. The Conclusion ... Continue Reading Share
