After some searching on the internet, I have found the following questions that I find to be the most effective:
1) Considering your entire time as an employee at your organization, can you recall a time when you felt most alive, most involved, or most excited about your involvement in the organization?
2) In your mind, what is the common mission or purpose that unites everyone on the leadership team? How can this continue to be nurtured?
Considering the first question, this would be a good thing to ask some of my coworkers. Understanding how people feel they contribute to an organizations success can be a large part in understanding how the unit’s morale is at that time. If people are feeling involved with a project and if that project performed well, you can try and replicate that success. The second question is, in my opinion, the most important of the two that I have found. In the military, understanding the mission and the best way to accomplish it is important. The second question, is asking how that mission unites leadership on the team. having leadership united under a common mission is important to success in any organization. If you have leadership that are divided, then you may end up getting missed messages, and having indirect decisions being made. If this question was asked to my coworkers, it would help them understand why they are united with leadership, and for what purpose. There is not as much focus on understanding the mission as much as there is in completing it, and if this question were to be asked, it would shift more focus onto understand the task at hand, which would see that task better accomplished.
