The evaluation of any program should start at the moment program planning begins to ensure that the program is meeting its goals and objectives. Comparing program participants’ knowledge and attitude scores about heart disease before and after they complete a Heart Healthy program is an example of an impact evaluation. Surveying the participants again 6 months later to assess the long-term impact of the program on their heart healthy behaviors is an example of outcome evaluation.
