The discussion assignment for this week includes a review of the Key Assignment Outline completed by one of your classmates, as well as a substantial response to at least 1 other student.
Primary Task Response: Your first task is to post your own Key Assignment Outline to the discussion area so that other students are able to review your plan. Attach your document to the main discussion post, and include any notes that you feel are appropriate. The purpose of this assignment is to help improve the quality of the Key Assignment Draft that you will complete next week.
Respond to Another Student: Review at least 1 other student’s Key Assignment Outline, and provide meaningful feedback. Refrain from general feedback, such as simply stating “good job.” Your feedback to other students is most helpful if you not only point out weak areas but also offer suggestions for improvement. · Title Slide
o For the Key Assignment I plan to start it off with a cover or title slide. On this slide I intend to identify the title of the presentation, as well as identify any and all author pertinent information. I may also choose to attach a photo in the title page area, but I am not quite certain of that part.
· Global Management Fundamentals
o Within the Global Management Fundamentals slide I plan to share an original scenario that would provide examples to the fundamentals of management which are Planning, Organizing, Leading, Controlling. I will specifically explain how effective planning may assist in the successful completion of a certain task or project. I’ll talk about how being an effective manager means that one must be extremely organized and detail oriented, and how not managing with this important skill may negatively affect one’s mission or duty. I will share information on the importance of being an effective leader. In my humble opinion I think that being a strong leader is the most powerful of the fundamentals of management. A leader is able to positively motivate a team of employees to complete a mission, task, or project successfully, and I would like to elaborate on that in the Key Assignment Outline. Lastly, I plan to share my opinions and ideas on the importance of being able to control effectively and positively, without causing any strife or negative feeling in a team of several employees. I will be sure to demonstrate how global strategy is incorporated in each example.
· Cultural Differences in communication
o Within this slide I plan to use my findings on the communication and business practice distinctions associated with the Indian culture and that of the United States. I plan to elaborate on any potential communication challenges there may be between India and the United States respectively. I would also like to share and explain any proactive solutions that may be accessible on the web that one may educate themselves with before interacting in a business venture with individual from a different culture than one’s own.
· Global Business Issues
o Within this slide I intend to elaborate on the importance of the Application of Ethical Management Practice. I will be sure to talk about the five steps to decision making advocated by the Project Management Institute, which are Assessment, Alternatives, Analysis, Application, and Action, all of which can be very helpful in assisting a manager or leader in making a wise ethical business decision.
· Global Negotiations
o For this slide I intend to explain the methods for managing employees who are competitive versus managing employees whom are more on the cooperative side of demeanor. And I would be using the Management Differences Worksheet that was included in the class.
