My passion for business in general and accounting in specific has grown in my since my childhood. First, I was always passionate about math while in high school and often rushed to class to learn new formulae then work on my homework right away. Later, I was lucky to grow in a family where almost everyone was a businessman. I had the opportunity to observe my father manage his business and was rather intrigued how he can manage the marketing, sales, operational, finance and strategic aspects of a large business. I guess if you want to be a successful businessman, you really need to know a little bit about everything at least. However, as I was reaching my high school graduation, I wanted to pursue a post-secondary education discipline that aligns my passion for math and business with a prosperous career direction.
Therefore, I obtained my bachelor’s Degree in business administration from King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia, in 2003. During my studies, I have participated in several group projects and assignments that helped me develop strong team working and interpersonal skills. As well, the diverse courses equipped me with fundamental knowledge in managerial accounting, finance and economics while practicing with various spreadsheet and computer applications.
My work experience included various roles from 2003 until 2005. I worked as an accountant at the Arab Trading Company and Al-Sadaf Co. with duties in journal entry keeping, expense reconciliation, tax calculations and payroll and cash-flow management. From 2005 until recently, I worked as a lecturer at the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational. I taught courses and tutorials in financial accounting, cost accounting, taxes accounting, and accounting management with enterprise technology.
Having gained sufficient experience, I wanted to travel abroad to obtain a master’s Degree in accounting and therefore joined the University of Scranton. I graduated in May 2014 with strong performance and thesis work focused on accounting fundamentals.
As such, I am interested to your PhD of Business-Executive Business Research. I am particularly interested in conducting research in (fraud and financial corruption) to evaluate the impact of application of forensic accounting in detection and prevention of financial frauds in Saudi Arabian.
Since the last decade, the world has experienced increasing number of dubious fraudulent accounting and financial activities which posit various risks to the businesses as well as their investors.With an increased prevalence of fraud and financial corruption in developing countries, including Saudi Arabia, and a negative impact on economic, social and political development are increasing pressure to develop areas of work to reduce, human resources and economic potential and perhaps the most prominent of these areas is forensic accounting that work, to reduce fraud and financial corruption and try occurrence the discovery of financial crimes of all kinds.
There is a dire need to add forensic accounting to the educational curriculum of the business and accountancy degrees offered by universities in developed and developing countries. The forensic accounting courses and its related areas, such as taxation, criminology, etc. must be of special focus in either accounting specialization or a separate forensic accounting specialization area at undergraduate and graduate level.
I also want to develop a model for forensic accounting service that can fit of all CPA corporate and the required skills to practice forensic accounting by certified Saudis public accountants. Therefor my research questions could be:
• there any need to integrate forensic accounting as course curriculum of business and accountancy degrees offered by Saudi Universities?
• Are there required skills of forensic accounting in Saudi Certified Public Accountants (CPAs)?
• Should forensic accounting be a part of the accounting curriculum at universities of Saudi Arabia?
I bring a unique mix of strong academic background and relevant work experience which will certainly motivate me to excel and contribute to your cohort. Perhaps my long work experience in accounting and my knowledge of the Saudi business and Saudi environment will allow me to advance the state of research in your university
