The final assignment for this course is a Final Paper. The purpose of the Final Paper is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by integrating the course material into a study that considers social causes and consequences of a social problem. After identifying a social problem to explore, you will discuss two factors that contribute to your chosen social problem and two consequences of that problem. You also will select appropriate methods to study this problem.
Focus of the Final Paper Over the course of this class, you completed a series of steps that prepared you to write the final paper. In Week Two you selected and explored a social problem. In Week Three you developed the social problem into a thesis statement and wrote an outline that provided specific support for the thesis. This week you will bring your efforts together to write your Final Paper by articulating an argument that describes the relationship between the factors that contribute to your social problem, the problem itself, and the social consequences of the problem. In addition, you will also describe a research method appropriate to investigating the social problem.
Writing the Final Paper The Final Paper must
Be five to six double-spaced pages (not including title page and references pages). Be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Use a minimum of six scholarly and/or peer-reviewed sources from the Ashford Library. Explain how a researcher in the social science discipline you selected would apply this method to study the problem you have identified. Explain why the research method you selected is the best choice for studying the problem from the perspective of the discipline you have chosen.
