Before you begin this assignment, be sure you have read the “Hometown Deli Case Study” and “Hometown Deli Stage One

For your Stage 1 Project of the Case Study, you identified a strategic area for improvement of your Hometown Deli’s business and youidentified a process that could be improved with the use of technology. In this exercise you will create a model of that process that will further define the steps in the process and aid in the analysis of the problem and the proposed solution. In order to apply technology to a process, the process must be thoroughly understood and models are used for this purpose. The model also supports business process analysis and redesign if the process is deemed to be inefficient or ineffective. Models are also used to design the “to-be” process that describes the desired end state after the technology solution is developed.

Purpose of this Assignment

This assignment gives you the opportunity to apply your analysis skills to model a business process. Modeling the process as it exists (or as it will exist) will aid in the analysis, design, development and implementation of the technology solution. This assignment specifically addresses the following course outcomes to enable you to:

• Analyze internal and external business processes to identify information systems requirements.

Assignment

For this assignment you will use the process identified for improvement in your Stage 1 Project. You may use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint or clearly hand-draw your process model and scan it into an electronic file format. Which model you choose to use is not as important as making sure you have included all the major steps in the process and appropriately sequenced them. The process that you model must be the one you identified in your Stage 1 Project and it needs to be appropriate to the Hometown Deli. If you identified a new process that does not yet exist at the Deli (due to the lack of technology present, etc), model the way that you expect the new process to function. Submit your paper via your Assignment Folder as an attached document with your last name included in the filename. Ensure you properly cite any references you have used for source(s) (references outside the textbook will garner you a better score).

The “right” and “wrong” answers have to do with whether or not you correctly model the major steps in the process. Your model will be evaluated on whether it is applicable to the process identified, all major steps in the process are included, and it is appropriate to the Deli.
