Goals:
Goal 1 – Evidence-Based Practice:
To ensure the clients in the Psychiatric Emergency receive good care and are provided an environment that is safe. To provide an environment that will help stabilize each client depending on their crisis and ensure each client is treated with dignity. I will ensure that my nursing interventions demonstrate psychiatric nursing principles with a main focus on therapeutic communication and client safety. In the final paper I will document how in my role as an emergency psychiatric triage nurse how am able to provide safe and effective care while adhering to the new difficult changes to new guidelines with one example being administering emergency medication without the client having one arm handcuffed to the bench.

Goal 2 – Professionalism:
I will provide ongoing assessment and continuity of care for the clients both physically and mentally. I will create plans of care and short term goals pertaining to the psychiatric diagnosis of each client. I will provide a therapeutic milieu for each client and assist them with their needs and concerns as needed. In the final paper I will discuss the care provided to each client making sure it meets the standards for an RN employed by The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD.

Goal 3 – Team dynamics:
To help increase the morale and of the work place, always provide a good attitude to colleagues and clients. To lead by example by always giving a helping hand to my colleagues and displaying great teamwork. Also to provide suggestions to my Charge Nurse on we can make our work environment a pleasant one to always be in. In my final paper I will discuss things that I did to display teamwork and make our work environment a pleasant and happy experience daily.
