Capstone Project: Preliminary Outline
For your first Capstone Project assignment you are to review the appropriate case study for your concentration and begin collecting data on a specific topic for the case study. A preliminary outline of your Capstone Project topic is due by the end of week 2.
For this assignment, it is absolutely essential that you read, study, and become familiar with the rubric for the Capstone Project BEFORE you begin your outline. Give yourself enough time to write the case study analysis. It is important that you read and reflect on the content and do not rush through it. Be analytical, not descriptive when writing your case study. You may need to compare and contrast issues, identify the pros and cons of viewpoints and situations, and provide honest, straightforward solutions.

Submit your formal Capstone Project Topic along with a preliminary outline of your presentation.
This should include:

Table of Contents (place holder at this time)
Basic structure content outline
Reference Page:
*Sources must be submitted in proper APA formatted style. (A variety of sources are required and 5-10 sources max at this time)
*Reference section should consist of brief 2-5-sentence description of source and why it is necessary to your case study.

NOTE: Your Capstone Project is a work in progress. Your sources will change and evolve throughout the process of completion. This is not a “set in stone” outline. It can change. Instructor feed back will focus on the necessity of your outline topics, quality of topic, as well as the sources you have chosen.
Capstone Project Q&A and Help & Resources
In the forums section of the classroom a forum discussion board titled “Capstone Project Q&A and Help & Resources” is open. This forum board will count toward your final grade. Each week you will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with your classmates. In weeks 3 & 4 you are required to post a minimum of two posts each week, two questions and two responses minimum. I will not require a word count. However, quality of comments will be assessed. Use this space to discuss options for your case study, web sites and resources that offer great tools for developing material and gathering information. General comments and assistance from your professor can be located in this forum. Be sure to read it frequently.

Final Draft Capstone Project Outline
Organize your writing and compile your sources to begin to develop your final draft outline for your case study, due for submission and classmate review week 6. Message me with questions or concerns and use the “Capstone Project Q&A and Help & Resources” forum board for assistance.
In the week 6-forum section of the classroom, submit your final draft Capstone Project outline to the forum titled “Week 6 – Final Draft Capstone Project Outline”.
Your final draft outline of your presentation should include:

Initial Capstone Project Submission
The Initial Capstone Project Submission (Week 7) is a complete and finished case study submission. All documents must be present and accounted for in the table of contents. Documents must be labeled with your name and the appropriate title. See example of CS preliminary and final outline for suggestions. This submission is for instructor review and feedback and allows you the time to make any necessary adjustments to your case study before Final Capstone Project Submission (Week 8). Initial Capstone Project Submission is due, for grading, by Day 5 (Friday) of week 7.
Again, Friday submission provides your instructor with the opportunity to offer initial feedback on your Capstone Project. Instructor feedback will allow you to make final adjustments on your case study in order to develop a solid Final Capstone Project Submission, reflective of your learning at AMU/APUS.
