Here are the exercices:
For exercises 1 and 2 below, please place the DTD or schema document in the same directory as the XML document and do not use an absolute path name when including the XML Schema or external DTD in the headings.
Exercise 1
Construct an external DTD to correctly validate the XML code for the invoice instance document and satisfy as many of the requirements as possible. (xml document is attached as sample.xml)
Exercise 2
Construct an XML Schema document to correctly validate the XML code for the invoice instance document and satisfy as many of the requirements as possible. (xml document is attached as sample.xml)
Make sure you validate the schema using either one of the validator services listed in the references section of the Lecture Notes(attached), or with the validator provided with an XML editor, if you are using one. In the latter case, please alert your Instructor which editor you are using—this may help if there are problems checking your solution.
Exercise 3
There are a number of other schema languages defined for use with XML documents apart from DTD and the W3C XML Schema. Two of these are Schematron and Relax NG, which are popular in some areas. Investigate these as well as any other different schema languages you find and write a brief synopsis of each of the ones you find and compare some of the differences between these, DTD and XML Schema. (~500 words)
