LEARNING THEORIES PAPER INSTRUCTIONS
At this point, you have learned about several learning theories such as behaviorism, social cognitive theory, information processing theory, and constructivism. For this paper, you must discuss 1 of these theories in a 2-3 page paper, utilizing at least 5 scholarly sources. Choose the theory with which you most identify as a learner. Your paper must include the following sections:
• A summary of the major components and theorists associated with the theory,
• A discussion of how the lessons and activities in the classroom would be differentiated to incorporate this theory,
• A discussion of how this learning theory will impact classroom management and student learning, and
• A discussion of why you most closely identify with this particular theory.
Within these sections, the following items must be addressed. In order to fall in to the Advanced category on the grading rubric for this assignment, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• Discuss and present a basic comprehensive summary of the learning theory.
• Demonstrate a Christian worldview and approach to teaching and learning throughout the paper.

• Discuss and present more than 1 way to manage and motivate students in order to maximize the learning of the students who identify with the selected learning theory.
PRE-C5.
• Discuss and present why you, as a learner and professional, most closely identify with this selected theory.
• Describe how you can utilize your knowledge of this theory to assist students in your classroom.

Learning Theories
The learning theory of this paper will be: Constructivism- a theory of learning based on the knowledge is constructed by the knower based on mental activity (www. usask.edu). Lev Vygotsky (the theorist of Constructivism) believed that knowledge is the foundation to promote cognitive development. I learned that my role as a teacher in the classroom is to enhance/stimulate each childs cognitive, emotional, and environmental development. The Constructivism theory helps me to better understand of how the students in my class interpret different materials through learning styles from differentiated instruction. Constructivism theory impacts the students cognitive by using realistic approach, prior knowledge, understanding, and critical thinking skills. In approaches to learning, teachers should initiate curiosity, persistence, attentiveness, and cooperation which will have the student actively involved in their learning.
Second, how Constructivism theory impacts the students in the classroom emotionally by promoting social relationships, peer interactions, self-regulation, emotional/behavioral awareness and problem solving.
Last, how Constructivism theory impacts the student in the classroom environmentally by allowing the students make free choices through learning interest centers, share ideas that form collaborative work, group discussions, and projects, increase social studies knowledge skills, expands the awareness and respect of diverse cultures, ethnicity, morals, and traditions and real life experiences students will face in todays society.
