In a treatise written in 1798 titled “An Essay on the Principles of Population”, Malthus proposed that in the future, population would grow faster than food production and that we needed wars, famines and diseases to control population growth. According to him, if it went unchecked, population could double every 25 years. The magazine articles, Malthus and His Ghost: When He Formulated His Theory Ignored the Ingenuity of Man and The Numbers Don’t Lie: Why Malthus was Right offer divergent views on Robert Malthus’ famous doomsday theory.
Read then write a summary reaction to these two articles. The articles can be found on the Content page in Blackboard. Please do not use the introduction above in your summary. The summary and reaction should not exceed two pages.

The summary is a condensed version of the original articles that you read. The summary should use third person and have no reactionary comments. Your paper should identify the article title, the name of the magazine or Journal, the date of the magazine/ Journal and title of the article. Throughout the paper, the articles’ title should be underlined.
The reaction describes and explains your intellectual or emotional response to the articles. The reaction should include how the articles made you feel, what it made you think of and why. Since the reaction part describes your own reaction to the articles it is appropriate to use first person (I, me, my, mine) occasionally. But remember that the paper is primarily about the articles, not about the writers or Malthus writings. The reaction should be about as long as the summary. Please remember Malthus did not write either article.
