The relationships between private enterprise and governmental entities has dominated in todays current climate. This relationship is one where both parties are actively seeking to benefit, both economically and politically. With it comes to government and business, it is a “you scratch my back, Ill scratch your back.” Situation. Although these relationships have been proven fruitful in many situations, this relationship is not without its pitfalls. One of the negative stains on the relationship of government and business is the action of lobbying. “Lobbying is one of the most direct, fundamental, and salient means by which interest groups pursue their political agendas.” This is without a controversial topic that effects all aspect of our current political climate.
