I think that a needs assessment for organizational analysis, person analysis, and task analysis are equally important for a company’s success.  If I had to choose one, I would say that the task analysis may be slightly more important.  I think that if the organizational analysis is the “birds eye view”, then the task analysis would be the looking at the organization’s goals and objectives under a magnifying glass.  The task analysis provides more important and detailed information that is necessary to know “how” the organization plans to be successful.  This information can also be used to determine the required

2. Some managers argue that international joint ventures/alliances are more costly than beneficial in terms of problems, making these ventures almost doomed to failure before beginning. Do you agree with this? Why, or why not?

I don’t necessarily agree that international joint ventures/alliances are more costly than beneficial. I am sure, especially in the beginning, when the venture/alliance is being established it can be problematic. Making sure that everything is covered from different laws to cultural concerns can be time consuming and costly. I think these problems would be less of an interference with the right planning and team in place to effectively handle them. The benefits of a joint venture/alliance seem as if they would outweigh the costs and problems that could potentially occur. Although it may be challenging to start with, in the long run having the opportunity to join with another organization would be much more beneficial as there would be additional resources, increased exposure, and shared risk.
