The poem has to be 14 line minimum and it cannot include anything about love/relationship or about sports or drugs. The type of poem i got assigned is “Persona”. the professor describes how the poem has to be, below.
Persona: a poem in the voice of someone else: someone you know (not family) or wonder about, anonymous or historical; no celebrities or fictional characters. Give us the private man or woman. Perhaps position this figure at a crucial moment, but dont speak from the grave, looking back over a resume. And dont go so far into history that footnoting or extensive background is required. make sure your speakers identity is clear, through the poems title, or better, through the poem itself. dont assume unlikely voices: animals, aliens, babies, God—-or extreme situations: the homeless, mentally or terminally ill, soldiers.
