Week 2: Prepare a Validity Paper

Write a paper in which you compare and contrast the characteristics of external, internal, and construct validity. In addition, please identify the threats to internal, external and construct validity. Please discuss how validity issues could impact your envisioned research.

Week 3 Assignment 2: Prepare an Ethics Paper

Develop a paper which includes an assessment of any ethical concerns for your intended research topic as well as a brief review of the IRB process at NCU.

Week 4: Survey Data Collection and Conducting Research on the Internet

Now, it is time to practice: Please sign up for Survey Monkey (you can obtain a free, limited account) and create a survey you might use in your own study. Visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/ to create your account. You will notice that you can create a variety of question types. Be creative and explore all of the options. Develop a survey of at least 10 different questions. Be sure to include both quantitative and qualitative survey questions. Send your mentor the link for your survey.

Length: a 10 (or more) item survey with both quantitative and qualitative survey questions.

Your survey should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Week 5: Apply Exploratory Research

After reviewing the required readings, respond to the Review Questions, 1-8, on page 130 in Cozby (2014). Please answer questions in detail and support your answers with scholarly research citations. Make sure your responses integrate information from multiple outside sources.

Week 6: Explore the NCU Template PhD Degree CP 2013 and Best Practices

First, review the SBTM Prospectus Template. Find every reference to either qualitative or quantitative design. While these two approaches have many similarities, there are some important differences in the way each should be treated. In an APA style document with citations compare and contrast the expectations for each approach as presented in the template. You must use other references to help clarify the similarities and the differences.

Week 8: Propose and Justify a Research Method and Design

Develop an envisioned methodology and design for your dissertation research topic based on the research problem, purpose, and research question, and previous research courses, and then write a research paper to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the envisioned method and design. In your paper, justify why the chosen method and design would be most appropriate for your research questions. In justifying your chosen method and design, discuss why alternative methods/designs would be less desirable for your study. Please corroborate your assertions with scholarly research.

Length: 12-15 pages not including title and reference pages
