The forecast may be a number, a range of numbers, or a simple text item suggesting that the
company’s earnings will be above or below analysts’ expectations. If a specific earnings figure is mentioned, it appears in the EST_1 field. If a range is mentioned, the upper limit of the range is in the EST_2 field. If only a point estimate is available, CIG_EST equals CIG_1; if a range is available, CIG_EST is between CIG_1 and CIG_2 (usually, the average of the two). If a specific number is not mentioned, the fields will have missing values; Records with these missing values should be ignored for the purposes of your study.
