When researching children in poverty, there are many factors that can influence improper speech and language with the potential of delays and disorders that are environmental and/or hereditary. Looking at a specific factor that was believed to be the most important is the communication within the family dynamics of the household. In an article found that describes family dynamics in poverty-bound socioeconomic status as families of home structure that do not give authoritative and structured-type environment with clarification and improving and motivating communication, but instead give an authoritarian environment and less positive communication. A child hearing and learning from negative and poor habits of speech and language from birth to elementary school age in the household can cause them to develop bad habits of speech and inappropriate language, reading and comprehension during instruction difficulties, and the reluctance to speak when in an environment that is different from their home environment due to language being used that they are do not familiar with or comprehend. Family dynamic issues can be due to prior causes of communication problems within the household that includes the education of the parents/guardians and also the language that the parents developed to their past environment that may not have proper syntax and semantics (Engle, 2008).
