Tort law and criminal law are continually developing areas of the law and cover a broad range of activities. Many of these activities can be found in sport situations. For instance, the tort of battery provides that if you touch someone, you are liable for that touching. If you are a linebacker and you tackle a running back during a game, you have technically committed a battery.
