In that same year 110 International terrorist suspects were arrested for trying to carry out terrorism in the United States. The ratio was similar the following year in 2018. These statistics were gathered by the FBI. The FBI has suggested the decrease number of international terrorist suspects is in relation to the growing desire of some extremists in the United States wanting to travel overseas and fight alongside terrorist organizations like Isis. The New York Times reported in 2018 that they were 263 acts of domestic terrorism that occurred in the United States between the years 2010 and 2017. In the same article it is suggested that approximately one-third of these terrorist attacks are carried out by individuals that associate with far-right wing thinking. Unfortunately the article does not explain the motivation of the other two thirds of the individuals who attempted to carry out domestic terrorist acts. When comparing and contrasting, domestic terrorism to International terrorism it’s somewhat obvious to see a rise in domestic terrorism over International.
